Larvae Rearing Stage – 30 Days
Nectochaeta are carefully cared for in a live environment with optimal nutrition for their growth during the first month. From the beginning, we implement strict biosecurity measures to prevent contamination and maintain a safe, pathogen-free environment. The larvae are closely monitored and maintained under controlled conditions, including water quality, temperature, and feeding schedule. With a specially designed nutrition program, tailored to the specific needs of Nectochaeta, they receive all the necessary nutrients for healthy development and transition to the next stage. Prioritizing biosecurity from the start lays a strong foundation for the larvae’s healthy growth.
Nutritional Enhancement Stage
In the next stage, polychaetes SPF are raised in a closed system with strict biosecurity measures, combined with a specialized nutrition program that helps boost hormones and provide essential nutrients for shrimp broodstock. The polychaetes are raised for 5-6 months, a stage in which the sand shrimp reaches its highest nutritional value, with an optimal size and composition suitable for shrimp broodstock. This stage provides the highest nutritional value and optimal hormone levels, which enhances the reproductive performance of the shrimp broodstock. This is what gives Oceana’s SPF polychaetes its superior nutritional value.
Quick-freezing technology – long-term preservation.
For frozen polychaete products, advanced quick-freezing technology is applied immediately after harvest to preserve the freshness and quality of the polychaetes, keeping the original characteristics as in live polychaetes.
The Fluidized Bed Freezing method at -60°C is used, which helps maintain the nutritional value of the polychaetes, ensuring optimal conditions for long- term storage, convenience, and readiness for hatcheries.
